Question 1

Do you report the results of my medical card to the Department of Driver Services?

Accepted Answer

No, we do not report your medical card results directly to the Department of Driver Services. However, we do report them to the FMCSA according to the new NR II criteria. The FMCSA then sends the results electronically to the local state driver license agency.

Question 2

How much is the DOT physical?

Accepted Answer

The cost of a DOT physical is $89.99. Veterans or active-duty military personnel receive a discounted rate of $76.50.

Question 3

How does my blood pressure influence the expiration date of my DOT medical card?

Accepted Answer

Depending on your blood pressure, the expiration of your DOT medical card may be reduced to one year or six months. In some cases, if blood pressure levels are too high, the certification process may not continue until the condition is properly managed.

Question 4

Do I need to take my medical card to the local Department of Driver Services?

Accepted Answer

No. The new NR II FMCSA system allows certified medical examiners to submit your medical card electronically to the FMCSA, which then forwards the results electronically to the Department of Driver Services.
